This is easily the best washable, rechargable, cordless electric shaver I have ever used. I've tried other foil and 3-head electrics in the past with mixed results, but none have shaved as close or as comfortably as the 9595. I have also used 3 and 5 blade traditional and vibrating razors. These work for a couple of weeks, but after that they start irritating the skin on my neck resulting in a rash.

I have experienced no discomfort with the 9595 and it shaves almost as close as a blade. It certainly shaves close enough for my purposes, and I wear a suit and tie every work day. The automatic cleaning is a God-send! Just shave, put the unit into the base, push the cleaning button, and walk away. Repeat next morning. Fast, efficient, and effective. What more could one ask for - take it on your next travel destination.

The Norelco was a fairly slow shaver to shave with. Yes, you could get a close shave with it after about 13-15 minutes but you had to keep going over areas. Also it was terrible on the neck - it just misses hairs until you go over and over them. I got so bored with it that I started shaving it with it while browsing on the computer and then finished off in front of a mirror. Did it do it's job? YES. Was the shave good? YES. But it was slow and took real effort to do a good job. The only part of my face that I noticed that the Norelco did a better job than the Pulsonic was my lower chin. And that's a review after only one use. I may learn to get that area better in the future. Onto the Pulsonic. Today was my first try with 4 days of beard trimmer growth. heavy and grey in many spots on the chin area. Let me make one thing clear to those comparing a blade to an electric shaver. You will ALWAYS get a faster closer shave with a blade. The blade is ON YOUR SKIN taking the hair and skin off as you shave. I don't know how anyone would think you can get closer than that. With ANY electric shaver you are going to have to go over areas more than once - it's a given and there is no way to avoid it. So stop saying the blade is closer etc.. of course it is. The Pulsonic took me about half the time that the Norelco did - about 6 or 7 minutes and this was just my first try. It does get FAR more hair off on every try and it is WAY faster.

I found that I could shave most areas extremely quickly - I was amazed at how fast it was. I was blown away at the speed that it took the hair off compared to what I've been using. Now if I had just gone over my face once with this it would have been just an OK shave. But you can't do that with an electric shaver as I explained. I found that going over the areas fast a few times got me a very very close shave without missing anything. The tough areas were the chin and neck - but it still did my neck way way faster than the Norelco. The Pulsonic really takes the hair off - the power difference is extremely noticeable - it's like replacing an old lawn mower with a turbo. There is one negative - and it's the same as the negative with the cleaning - it SOUNDS like it's powerful. The noise is about 10 times what my Norelco was making.

It's LOUD. Not just a little loud - real loud - shut the door loud. As far as the form I found it fit in my hand just fine. I used it without the lock the first time and I will play with it as time goes on. Also I noticed that like any other new shaver you need to learn how to shave with it - there is a method. This should speed up the process and get my a closer shave faster. How close is the shave compared to the Norelco or any other shaver I've ever used? WAY closer. As I said above - just going over it once is not going to do it - go over it until you can feel with your hand that the shave is close. I asked my wife how my skin felt afterwards and she said it was incredibly close - much closer than anything I've ever used. In fact I am feeling my face now and I can tell that it's the closest shave I ever have had.

I've never owned or used an eletric shaver until I purchased the Braun Pulsonic 9595CC. From its first use I found it extremely comfortable and will never go back to using my Gillette Fusion. I've been using it for a number of weeks and I'm extremely satisfied with it. I find it provides a very close shave only to be rivaled by a fresh razor, but produces none of the irritation caused by blades. It does a good job of collecting the shaving debris ensuring a spotless bathroom. The cleaning system is convenient; a press of a button will leave you ready for your next shave.

Initially I was skeptical about the Clean & Renew cleaning system, because I assumed the more it was used the sooner I would need a refill. In reality the cleaning cartridges contain a filter allowing the liquid to be recycled until depleted from evaporation. Therefore, you're not going to save money by using the cleaning system every other day. Despite the cartridge's content label only specifying denatured alcohol and (lemon)fragrance, it includes a water soluble lubricant to keep the shaving mechanisms running smooth. So, using the Clean & Renew system not only keeps things hygienic but oils the shaving mechanism, which makes maintaining this shaver effortless.
